Short answer: Bosch will start building humanoid robots for the London company Humanoid at its plant in Bühl, in Germany's Black Forest, in 2027 (All About Industries, 24 August 2026). The first robots go to factories and warehouses, not shops. For a shop owner, the news means more choice and more European-made models over the next two years, and one more reason not to lock into a single robot today.
More European-made choice. Most humanoids a shop can rent today come from China, with European models costing several times more. A second European production line, next to makers like NEURA in Germany, should widen the choice and put pressure on price.
Wheeled humanoids are a real category. Many of the "humanoids" arriving in 2027 will roll rather than walk. For a shop with flat floors, that can mean longer battery life and a lower price. See humanoid or wheeled robot.
Factories first, shops later. The first units go to industrial customers with long-planned sites. Shop-ready versions, trained for shelves and customers, come after. We add a humanoid to the models we rent when it passes a shift on a real site, not when it ships a press release.
Models keep changing fast. New humanoid models now arrive roughly every twelve months. That is the strongest argument against buying one robot and living with it for five years.
On an ovibot contract you are not tied to the humanoid you start with. At month 12 or 24 you can swap to any other model we offer, for a fixed fee, including models that are not on the market yet when you sign. When a European-built humanoid is ready for shop work and passes our checks, it joins the catalogue and becomes a swap option.
